1914 Border occupation badge.
This medal is a Swiss plaque commemorating the mobilization and occupation of the border at the start of World War I in 1914.
Obverse: allegorical figure, Helvetia, holding a sword and leaning on an altar. In the background, soldiers making the Swiss oath gesture.
Reverse: trilingual inscription: “Grenzbesetzung / Aux frontières ! / Ai confini !” (Occupation of the borders) and the date “1914.”
Engraved by Swiss artist Hans Frei (1868-1947) and probably minted by the Huguenin factory.
Condition: 4 (good with traces of age and/or of use).
